How to Right-Size Your Quality Management Program and Update Your Quality Management PlanThis workshop focuses on strategies to right-size your QM Program, definitions of terminology, elements of a QM Plan, an overview of a QI project and helpful resources.
Building Your Quality Management InfrastructureThis workshop focuses on developing a Quality Management Committee, their roles, identifying and working effectively with QI Teams, team roles, stages of team work as well as developing regional/network-wide teams.

Patient Decision Making: Or Whose Life Is It Anyway?This workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss various issues related to decision-making for HIV-positive individuals, such as the impact of patient involvement in decision-making on treatment outcomes, autonomy and control, quality of life issues, ethical issues, involvement of family and friends, use of complementary or alternative therapies and compliance. In addition, this workshop will explore the relationship between health care providers and clients from the patient, provider and personal caregiver perspectives. Finally, the workshop will examine patient decision-making from multicultural and multidisciplinary perspectives. Panel optional. Time: 2 - 3 hours.
Meeting the Needs of Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual PatientsThis workshop will discuss the process of human sexual development, including sexual identity, orientation, behavior & sex roles as well as the impact of homosexuality & bisexuality on adolescent sexual development. Participants will identify common myths & stereotypes about gays, lesbians & bisexuals & discuss how they impact access to & delivery of health care, identify any personal and/or professional issues about working with gay, lesbian & bisexual patients. Finally, participants will identify a minimum of three strategies to work more effectively with gay, lesbian & bisexual patients. Panel recommended. Time: 4 hours - 1 day.
Addressing the Needs of Sexual Minority YouthThis seminar will provide an overview of the human sexual development, including gender identity and roles, sexual identity orientation and behavior, anatomy and physiology. Topics include, but are not limited to, adult learning theory, creating an effective learning environment, effectively using interactive exercises and managing difficult situations. Facilitation Skills and TechniquesSkills and techniques used to effectively facilitate meetings and discussions are presented in this experiential workshop. Key points of how to run an effective meeting will be examined. Time: 4 hours - 1 day.
Stress Management: When Enough is EnoughStaff burnout and overload is a concern of every health care organization. Signs of overload and impending burnout as well as techniques for minimizing the negative effects of working in a fast-paced environment will be explored. The role of employee, supervisors and the organization in managing stress and preventing burnout will be addressed. Time: 4 hours - 1 day.
Toward a Culturally Competent OrganizationCulturally responsive organizations are able to improve quality of care and service utilization, as well as create healthier work environments. Workshops on cultural competency, however, frequently tend to address only interpersonal communication and fall short of a thorough examination of the organization’s role in addressing these matters.
